Will.i.am demands changes in music industry

The Voice judge and man responsible for some of modern music’s worst releases in recent years, Will.i.am has called for changes in the music industry.

The Black Eyed Peas mastermind has called for the industry to learn from the success of Apple’s iTunes and invest more money into the marrying of music and technology in the recording industry.

The rapper appeared at London’s Royal College of Art’s Innovation Night last night (2 May, 2012) and spoke about the need for the music industry to embrace technology to prevent its slow decline.

“The music industry never had an appreciation for technology,” he told guests. “We’re going to work out how to make money once we marry music and science. Apple is worth $800 billion now – the music industry far less. Music helped define what that company is, but they made all the money.”

He later spoke of the event with fans on Twitter, saying: “I had fun… I’m glad you got to see that side of me… this is how I think & talk every minute of the day outside of music.”
