Stevie Wonder To Receive Billboard Music Awards Icon Honour

With some of the biggest names in music set to perform at the Billboard Awards 2012, Stevie Wonder will now also receive Billboard’s 2012 Icon Award.

The ‘Higher Ground’ singer will be given the honour at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas later this month.

Following on from Neil Diamond, who was hounred with the award in 2011, Wonder is being recognised for his contributions to the music industry.

Usher and Kelly Clarkson are the latest acts confirmed to perform at the prestigious awards.

The singer’s will also be joined by Nelly Furtado and rockers Linkin Park at the ceremony in Las Vegas later this month.

Justin Bieber and The Wanted were the first names added to the industry event last month and The Voice coach Cee Lo Green was also named as a performer on the night.

Adele, LMFAO and Rihanna are among the lead nominations for this year’s Billboard Awards.

‘The Someone Like You’ singer has been nominated in 18 categories including ‘Top Artist’, where she face competition form Lady GaGa, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lil Wayne.

LMFAO follow with recognition in 17 categories. Rihanna has been nominated in 13 categories this year.

While, Lady GaGa and Lil Wayne each received 10 nominations in unique categories.
