BGT’s Jonathan Antoine: I won’t diet for recording contract

Jonathan and Charlotte lost out in Saturday night’s Britain’s Got Talent final when dancing dog act Ashleigh and Pudsey cornered 39% of the public vote with their routine set to the Mission Impossible theme.
Undeterred, Jonathan Antoine hopes to follow in the footsteps of Susan Boyle and Paul Potts and be a successful singer in his own right, though he refuses to compromise on his image.
The 20st 17-year-old said: ‘I wouldn’t change for no one — take me or leave me.
‘Diets aren’t my style. If Simon said I had to change my image I’d say, ‘No, thank you.’ If he said I had to slim, I’d say, ‘No. It’s a good offer but I am who I am’.’
Jonathan – who dreams of singing with Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli – added that he would not be bothered by any criticisms leveled at him over his appearance.

He told The Sun: ‘If there’s any negativity I’ll take it in my stride. I have good friends and family and I’m a lot happier than I was back then — happier than I’ve ever been,’ adding that BGT has helped him ‘accept’ himself.
It emerged recently that Jonathan’s singing partner Charlotte was not his first, with former operatic companion Stephanie Dunne having teamed up with Antoine prior to Britain’s Got Talent.
Stephanie said: ‘We just did the one duet. It was my last year before I went to university.’
She said ‘of course’ she wished she still performed with Jonathan but added: ‘Charlotte’s amazing. She’d give me a run for my money.’

  1. He has an amazing voice and I bet we will be hearing a lot from him in the future!
