Russell Brand verbally bashes ‘Katy Perry’ heckler, likens his appearance to an ape

The comedian didn’t let a rowdy audience member get the last laugh

Leave the funny business to the man onstage.

Russell Brand got downright nasty toward a heckler in the audience during his stand-up show at the Borgata Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., over the weekend, much to the delight of fans – and the dismay of one very loud-mouth audience member.

Brand, 36, kept his cool after the heckler’s first attempt to disrupt his act, in which he yelled out Katy Perry’s name in the middle of a set.

“The entire audience gasped after Katy’s name was shouted out, but Russell managed to avoid directly talking about her,” an audience member tells the Daily News.

However later in the evening, the heckler ventured to get a reaction again by yelling “God save the Queen!” as Brand joked about easing up on the royal family.

“What, mate?” Brand began, causing a nervous twitter to ripple through the crowd.

“I want to see what this person looks like, turn the lights on for me because I really want to achieve some sort of confirmation,” he continued as he hopped off the stage and into the audience to locate the offender. “Let’s have a look. Come here, let’s see you.”

Brand, who filed for divorce on his 14-month marriage to Perry on Dec. 30, then began to really rip into the heckler with a slew of insults.

“Let’s see how your mental illness looks in the daylight,” he began. “It’s you, is it? Oh dear. I was hoping that your personality was just a result of physical beauty. But then I saw you. I thought, ‘This guy’s confident, probably, because he’s incredibly handsome,’ but look at you.

“You look like somebody who’s fallen off the outside of a church! And what is it that you have rattling around your mind, some bizarre combination of alcohol and idiocy … some cocktail of nothing. And yet the confidence to continue shouting. They say of course, don’t they, that empty vessels make the most noise. What an enormous echo of nothingness from you.”

“I know on some level, despite your physical appearance to an ape, that you’re a human being,” he continued.

The comedian finally ended his verbal assault after a few minutes, telling the heckler to “keep your lips firmly, firmly clamped together.”

“Remain in silence so I can look at you as an equal under God, a fellow beautiful human being,” he ended, climbing back onstage as the crowd cheered. “Remain in silence.

“I know that you’re beautiful somewhere within you.”
